Berlusconi wants Italians to retire later

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has suggested that his country's retirement age should be raised by five years to stave off the demographic timebomb caused by an ageing population.

"In Italy people retire on average at 57. It means unsustainable costs and an annoying loss of talent, which could end up sinking us," Mr Berlusconi told the Libero newspaper.
